Kat Von D Shade & Light Palette Review

By: Michelle Rodriguez

With contouring being such a big trend at the moment, I wanted to invest in the best contour palette I could get. After much research, I found that the Kat Von D Shade & Light contour palette was one of the best ones on the market. Being a college student, it is hard to purchase high end beauty products, so I decided to add it to my Christmas list. Santa was more than happy to help me achieve my contouring dream. Filled with excitement I took the plunge and started my journey with this palette.

I have been using the palette now for around a month and have concluded it has many pros, and just one con. Firstly, I love how there are three shades of both highlighters and contours that I could choose from. It has allowed me to play around with several looks to really try to find the best shades for everyday and night-time makeup looks. Another pro that I have is the consistency of the product. The powders have the perfect amount of creaminess, without being too powdery. Because of this, it is easier to blend the product onto onto the skin. It results in a smooth, blended contour and highlight, without any harsh lines. Another pro is the color payoff. I find that doing one swoop across my face is enough to have the desired amount of color that I want. I do not have to apply layer after layer to get the desired look.

The one con that I do have about this product is I find that there is some fallout after each use. Once I finish my makeup and close the palette, the next time I open it the product comes out of its packaging and gets onto the mirror in the palette. But this con isn’t bad considering all of the pros that I have experienced with this product. Overall I believe that this contour and highlight palette is an amazing buy and I can’t wait to explore more looks using it.
