The Fanny Pack Comeback

By: Carolyn Davis

Take a seat because this is about to get real; fanny packs are back and better than ever. It has been decades since the nation has seen fanny packs in style. The time has come to go up to your attics, drive to your storage spaces, dig out those gorgeous timeless packs and fill them to the brim with anything you can imagine.

What has brought back the fanny packs from the dead? There are a number of reasons, but first and foremost I do believe the fanny pack is back due to music festivals. These fashionable packs have been seen at festivals all around the world such as Coachella, Bonnaroo and Tomorrowland. The only fashionable and manageable way to attend these events, while also holding onto your few necessities, has been with the help of the fanny pack. Everyone’s favorite trendsetter, Kylie Jenner, was seen sporting a bejeweled fanny pack to Coachella last year. Thus the craze for fanny packs was reborn.

With the development of festival fanny packs, day-to-day fanny packs resurfaced as well. Celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker have been spotted wearing a Chanel fanny pack. This revival has been seen not only on the streets, but also on the red carpet. It is 2015 and celebrities are wearing fanny packs on the red carpet! What a time to be alive. Is it safe to say non-celebrities can join in on the craze and sport their favorite packs on a day-to-day basis? It’s hard to say.

After scouring through a couple of my favorite online stores and finding plenty of fanny packs ready for purchase, I think it is time to proudly say that the fanny pack is acceptable to incorporate back into our everyday lives. Imagine how easy going to class will be when all you need is your laptop in your arms and your supplies in your pack…around your fanny…your fanny pack.

The future has never looked so bright and so easy to get to with the help of 2015’s fanny packs.
