Winter is coming. When you live in Boston, that means snow piles taller then a small giant and walking to class in temperatures way below freezing. It can be a challenge dressing for the weather, staying stylish and not having to spend a lot of money on a winter jacket. However, there are options that allow you to stave stylishly and not spend the big bucks on an infamous Canada Goose parka or a North Face jacket that could double as a sleeping bag.
Lower price point clothing stores like Primark and H&M have a great selection of fashionable jackets that are a great deal for the money. Whether you are looking for a parka or a pea coat, you will find the perfect jacket. They follow the trends, so you don’t have to splurge on something that may be out of style next winter.
This Primark red parka with a faux fur collar is a great alternative to a Canada Goose Parka, at only $40. Primark carries a lot of jackets in this style, with a wide selection of colors.
Primark also has some great pea coats that can be an everyday jacket, or be dressed up for a night out. This fur collar Crombie coat looks really expensive, even though it is only $46, which is the high end of Primark’s jackets’ price range.
H&M also has a great selection of jackets, but unfortunately some of them get up there in price. They have some beautiful textured pile coats that seem both relaxed and high fashion. This one comes in black and camel. It is also currently on sale for $90.
Another H&M statement piece is this brick-red double-breasted coat. The red will stand out, while still being fairly neutral and easy to make outfits with. It can be purchased for $80 online.
Stores like Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls are great places to look for a discounted name-brand jacket. Nordstrom Rack has a great online store, but if you are up for a bit of a treasure hunt, going into stores is a great way to find items that they don’t have enough stock of to list online.
Originally $120, you can purchase this oversized Steve Madden camel coat for $70 at Nordstrom Rack. This coat would be great for layering with sweaters and scarves, and adds an effortless chic quality to your wardrobe.
Another great find is this quilted Tommy Hilfiger jacket that was originally $195, but is being sold at Nordstrom Rack for $70. For a down jacket, it is very tailored and would be flattering on any body type.
Laundry has a lot of jackets on Nordstrom Rack’s website, such as this long puffer jacket. Originally $275, getting this jacket for $110 is over 50 percent off. This puffy coat will keep you warm and the belt will flatter your figure.
