Fall 2015 Essentials

By: Amanda Slomovitz

It’s that time of year again. The hot summer days are gone and fall is finally upon us. The change in weather also means a change in wardrobe. It’s time to retire the denim shorts and sheer crop tops for the year and break out those sweaters and dark-wash jeans that have been hiding in your closet since last winter. When it comes to fall fashion, there are a few pieces everyone should have on hand to always look put together with little to no effort.

The Flannel

Flannels are a fall staple and are great for layering up on chillier days. They pair perfectly with the classic t-shirt and jeans combination and can be tied around your waist if you get too warm or if you want a completely different look.

The Oversized Scarf

Fall is all about layering and an oversized scarf can be worn anywhere. It’s the best piece to keep in your go-to handbag for days that the weather is colder than expected. In addition, a scarf’s simple color or pattern can complement any outfit.

The Leather Jacket

A leather jacket can give any outfit an edgier look and will keep you warm right through the winter. Throw it on over anything. Throw on your scarf while you’re at it and you have the perfect fall outfit that’s functional and fashionable.

The Ankle Bootie

If it isn’t late enough in the season to break out the riding boots, ankle booties are going to be your new best friend. They can be worn with dresses, skirts, jeans and leggings and are great for transitioning outfits into the autumn months.
