September is always an eventful time of the year; we get to enjoy the leaf color change, reunite with our friends from school and finally bring out our fall wardrobes. But of course, everyone’s favorite thing about this month is it is Fashion Month. With fashion weeks in New York, London, Paris and Milan, Fashion Month allows us to get a glimpse of upcoming trends, and begin to incorporate them into our own wardrobe. Below are three emerging trends seen on the runway to give you some inspiration as the spring and summer approaches:

Statement Jackets and Fringe

Featured designers, left to right: Burberry Prorsum, Fausto Puglisi, Alexander Wang, Rachel Zoe

Contrary to past runways, statement jackets and fringe pieces were not the only eye-catching parts of these looks. Instead, these pieces were used as bold accents for outfits that already made a statement on their own.

Asymmetrical and Plunging Necklines

Featured designers, left to right: Vivienne Westwood Red label, Versus Versace, Daks , Giles

With the exception of Versace, these intricate necklines complement lightweight silhouettes. When looking to incorporate this trend into your closet stick to neutral and muted colors to create a statement without being too flashy.

Long coats and Menswear

These two trends go hand-in-hand as they can be used to create similar looks. If you are looking to create the androgynous look, incorporate pieces with a bold color or pattern to keep the look sophisticated yet distinctive from other menswear-inspired looks
