On Oct. 14, TJX Companies came to our general meeting to talk about their co-op program for Northeastern students. TJX is the leading off-price retailer in the United States, and offer numerous job opportunities in a range of fields. These fields include marketing, merchandising and human resources.
At the program overview, a representative talked about the brand and also introduced four panelists, who are current and former co-ops. One of the panelists, Stephanie, is currently an allocation analyst and got her start at TJX through her co-op during her time at Northeastern. She now has a full time job in the jewelry department and is responsible for organizing where the company is shipping product. The second panelist co-op, Nina, began as an allocation analyst, moved on to be an associate planner and is currently a planner. Working for TJX since she graduated eight years ago, Nina spends many days traveling to meet with vendors. The third panelist, Trey, is currently on co-op as an allocation analyst for the e-commerce department. He analyzes data to determine trends and decide which products will be the best fit for the TJX website. Even as a co-op, he plays a major role with deciding what will be featured online. The final panelist, Avery, is currently on co-op as a product specialist. She makes edits to garments in order to get the best looks for the consumer, while at the same time checking for quality.
The panelists only talked about a small range of jobs available at TJX, but there are a multitude of opportunities there. It is often a chance to be offered a full time job after graduation. Working at TJX Companies is a great way to gain hands-on experience in the field and jumpstart a career in fashion.
