3 Days of Style: Sara R.

Name: Sara Reich

Major: Undeclared

My Style in 3 Words: Classy, minimalist, feminine

Style Background: My normal garb generally consists of skirts and dresses, but with all the snow this week, I had no choice but to break out some jeans. Nevertheless, I tried to stick to my usual style: I like to pair simple shapes, neutral colors, and the occasional bold pattern to break it all up. Usually I start out with one piece that I definitely want to wear and form my outfit around that. All this, of course, while trying (and often failing) to combat the cold Boston winter.

Day 1: Today was our first snow day, so I tried to keep it cozy, but still stylish, for a time spent lazing around indoors. I based this look around a pair of high-waisted jeans and paired it with a black and white, geometric-patterned top that’s slightly cropped to show off the high waist of the pants. To add some warmth and a little bit of color, I threw on a chunky maroon cardigan. Finally, I finished off the look with a pair of knee-high black boots for a perfectly cozy snow day look.

Day 2: Another snow day meant another day of casual wear. I started out with high(ish)-waisted jeans again, but this time I went for a less layered look. I simply added a black-and-white narrow striped sweater over my black jeans. The stripes make the outfit a little more interesting considering the lack of color. For shoes, I wore a classic pair of black oxfords.

Day 3: Coming back to classes means coming back to wearing my skirts and dresses! The weather was still quite chilly, but there’s nothing a pair of fleece-lined tights can’t fix. They kept my legs just as warm as jeans would in the aftermath of the blizzard. This time, the first piece I chose was the black skirt with a daisy pattern. I love the mod feel of the large, black and white daisy print. I paired it with an olive top to add some color without distracting too much attention from the graphic nature of the skirt. The black booties with a gold buckle detail complete the look with a little extra flair.
