On Nov. 19, the Fashion & Retail Society was treated to an evening with Northeastern grad and up-and-coming fashion designer, Sergio St. Laurent. St. Laurent graduated from Northeastern with a degree in biology, but decided to follow his dream of becoming a fashion designer after graduation. His background in biology is clear in the appreciation for nature that is a staple in his line, SSL.

The collection is made up of t-shirts and tank tops, all of which are made in the US. St. Laurent is deeply committed to providing his customers with the highest quality of fabric possible. The tees all feature zipper detailing, which is the designer’s signature. In St. Laurent’s words, “SSL’s t-shirt collection is a premier example of a crafted, retro, metropolitan and hip vibe. It’s the ideal blend between performance and style. Inspired by love, the T-shirts exude fun, liberating messages, yet intricate and captivating details.”

St. Laurent, who is originally from Colombia, showed off his collection at Boston’s Latino Fashion Week earlier this year. His designs have become increasingly popular since reality TV personality and LGBTQ activist Jujubee was spotted wearing one of St. Laurent’s “Love is Love” tees. St. Laurent cites love as being the driving force behind his creations.

We have no doubt that St. Laurent will continue to be a rising star in the fashion world, and wish him the best of luck with his SSL line and his new internship with Louis Vuitton! You can get your SSL tee at SSLtee.com and make sure to follow St. Laurent on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
