Beyoncé Moves into the Fashion Scene, Partners with Topshop

By Jennifer Sun

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly. Beyoncé is launching her own streetwear athletic line with British retailer, Topshop. And it’s about time. Known for her fierce looks and impeccable style, the “Bootylicious” singer is finally developing her own fashion line for the rest of us.

Now, this isn’t your plain, one-time celebrity collaboration. Beyoncé and Topshop have formed a 50/50 partnership business called Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd. The joint venture is named appropriately after Beyoncé’s record label, Parkwood Entertainment.

The collection will include athletic clothing, footwear, and accessories for dance, fitness, yoga and other similar categories. To those who don’t have a Topshop location near them, rest easy. You’ll still be able to get your hands on this line as the collection will also be available online at and other retailers, such as Nordstrom. With the growing trend of athletic wear as regular attire and more stylish options from companies like Lululemon, this collaboration is perfect for Topshop, which currently does not have a workout line.

If you weren’t excited before, you can be assured the pieces will be as fabulous as the Queen herself as she’ll be fully involved in the design process, including brainstorming and marketing. Topshop has grown rapidly in recent years due to its strong fashion credentials and forward thinking, eventually winning over Beyoncé as a loyal customer.

At this point, you must be wondering when this line is coming out. I’ve purposely left that towards the end as I prefer to give out good news first and bad news last. The line could launch as early as Fall 2015. For now, we’ll just have to settle for watching the “Single Ladies” music video on repeat.
