Elie Saab continuously produces collections that exude glamour and femininity. However, when presenting his SS15 ready-to-wear collection at Paris Fashion Week, Saab shocked editors and attendees alike due to his slightly new look. This collection seemed heavily influenced by sportswear, which is far from the designer’s distinctive style.
Although Saab is not due for a sportswear collection anytime soon, his spring/summer 2015 collection went astray from the usual with the addition of lace strips — hey, sportswear has to be glam if it’s Elie Saab — on the necklines and seams. Nevertheless, the French designer left show attendees awestruck by his ability to alter designs to fit the trends of the luxury fashion industry while maintaining his individuality.
The theme of Saab’s show was “Dive Into the Deep Blue,” and rightfully so. The influence by beach life and the ocean were evident throughout his prints, silhouettes and materials. As the show progressed, models glided down the runway in bright gowns reminiscent of ‘70s fashion. The blend of vivid, warm colors and deep, cool colors, like cobalt blue, made the gowns’ vintage silhouettes pop in an ethereal and sophisticated manner.
As usual, Elie Saab came out on top of Paris Fashion Week, presenting flawless, on-trend pieces while keeping his personal touch evident through distinctive silhouettes.
