When Joan Rivers passed away earlier this month, the fashion community was shocked. Whether watching her stand-up comedy or her advice on E!’s Fashion Police, you never would have guessed that Rivers was 81. She brought forth an exciting energy that kept you on the edge of your seat — mostly because you were waiting to hear what she would say next.
Rivers was the first woman to host a late night talk show after being a guest on Johnny Carson’s “The Tonight Show.” She wrote 12 best-selling books and released numerous comedy albums, but Rivers was most known for revolutionizing the red carpet interview.
“Who are you wearing?” quickly became every celebrity’s dreaded question as they hoped for River’s seal of approval once the red carpet special aired.
What made River’s style unique was that she said what she was thinking and never held back. Not only did she give a refreshing perspective on fashion, she paved the way for outspoken, independent women everywhere.
As she always said, “I succeeded by saying what everyone else is thinking.”
