This week, the fashion industry received unfortunate news that may change the game in Ready-to-Wear fashion. Earlier this week, the fashion designer, Jean Paul Gaultier, announced he will be shutting down his Ready-to-Wear collection. The shut down applies to accessories, womenswear and menswear, however the couture and fragrance lines will still be in place. The designer told Women’s Wear Daily that the shutdown is due to “commercial constraints”, however this will not stop Gaultier from his other projects. Gaultier hopes this shutdown will head future collaborations with other brands and will allow him to explore different aspects of the fashion industry. Overall, the French fashion house and their stakeholders are ready to dominate the fashion industry all over again, one collection at a time.
After over 38 years of designing his Women’s Ready-to-Wear line, Jean Paul Gaultier will present his last show during Paris Fashion week on Saturday, September 27th.
