Best Dressed at the 2014 Academy Awards

By Lauren Shelton

At Sunday evening’s 86th annual Academy Awards, various styles of gowns and accessories covered the red carpet, all of them eccentric and dazzling. Though everyone could not take home a gold trophy, every star was a winner on the red carpet. Here are our favorites:

Olivia Wilde

The pregnant actress elegantly walked the red carpet in a black Valentino column gown, donning her baby bump as a main accessory. A beautifully flowing white panel in the back of the dress added to Wilde’s effortless glamour as she walked. If there was an award for “Best Dressed Baby Bump,” Wilde would be our winner.

Amy Adams

The “American Hustle” actress graced the red carpet in a strapless Gucci Couture gown with a flowing train. Not only did the dress show off Adams’s flawless figure, but the navy blue color looked fabulous against her strawberry blonde locks. She completed the look with Tiffany jewels.

Lupita Nyong’o

The Best Supporting Actress winner stunned viewers in a pastel blue Prada gown, custom-made just for her. Everything about Nyong’o’s look was flawless – the pastel color looked amazing against her skin tone, the plunging neckline in the front and back showed off her toned figure, and the flowing fabric was perfect for her big night. To complete the look, she accessorized with a thin white headband.

Jennifer Lawrence

The “Hunger Games” star slipped into a vibrant red Dior gown donned with hip panels to create a peplum style. Lawrence accessorized her gorgeous dress with a Neil Lane crystal necklace that hung over her back, mirroring a similar look to her adornment at last year’s Oscars.

Charlize Theron

The presenter looked regal in a black Dior mermaid gown, paired with a stunning Harry Winston necklace. Her soft makeup and classic hairstyle completed the elegant look.

Cate Blanchett

In her best look of the awards season, the Best Actress winner stunned in a blush Armani Prive dress embellished with Swarovski crystals. Blanchett completed the look with Old Hollywood-style waves and dangly Chopard earrings.

June Squibb

The Best Supporting Actress nominee proved that no matter what your age is, you can still own the red carpet. Squibb looked stunning in a Tadashi Shoji hand-beaded, long-sleeved gown. We love that she went for the bold emerald jewel tone and that she completed the look with red lips.
