Victoria Beckham Shows Interest in Designing Shoewear and Possibly Menswear

victoria_beckham_web04Could it be? The former Spice Girl and much-envied fashionista has declared that she may soon begin designing shoes. There’s no denying that Beckham knows good shoes. She is often spotted wearing gorgeous sky high designer stilettos and I would love to see what she has to offer for her own line.

The former pop-star showed her new clothing collection last Sunday at New York Fashion Week  and the next day, spoke at Parson’s John L. Tishman Auditorium. Beckham spoke about her desire to start a shoe collection with the hundreds of students in the audience.

Beckham said that she is very eager to design a line of footwear. She already has her womenswear label, a diffusion line, an accessories collection, her own fragrance and a denim collection. A shoe line would just add to her pile of amazing successes. Beckham told everyone in attendance, “You know, I do want to start a shoe collection… it’s quite a competitive category, but I would love to go into [it].”

Not only is Victoria Beckham considering launching a shoe line of her own but she has also expressed interest in starting a line of menswear. “I’d love to do menswear at some point, absolutely. I get very inspired by menswear — [my spring 2014 collection] was very inspired by men’s tailoring,” said Beckham.

I can’t imagine what types of pieces would come from a Victoria Beckham menswear line, but I can definitely picture a variety of gorgeous shoes the designer could create. Not only is it very possible for her to create a shoe line, but it would be amazing for all of us fans out there. Victoria Beckham is such a fashion icon and has proven to have an impeccable knack for designing clothes–who knows what beautiful shoes she could create? I know I’m hoping she will follow through with this idea and I can’t wait to see what might become of it.
