Best Dressed: Valentine’s Day Edition

By Juliana McLeod

It’s that time of year again — the time when flower bouquets trump groceries and candy hearts remain the go-to gift, despite no one having a taste for them. Whether you have a Valentine or not, one thing you will always have on this ancient day of love is fashion. We compiled a list of our favorite red outfits donned by celebrities — let’s not forget the power of wearing red, people — so take a look and remember: no amount of chocolate today is too much.

Emma Stone & Rihanna

Ah, the classics. Stone donned this gorgeous Giambattista Valli Haute Couture dress at the 2012 Academy Awards Show, sparking an obsession with oversized bows in the community. She overpowered the critics that believe redheads cannot pull off even more red. Boy, were they wrong! One year later, Rihanna rocked this Azzedine Alaia dress at the Academy Awards with sheer cut-outs in the front bodice and a long train, which Rihanna easily managed despite it being the length of Rapunzel’s hair. These ladies took iffy trends and rocked them — cheers to that!

Lupita Nyong’o & Michelle Dockery

These dresses are getting better and better — and what’s nice about these two pieces is how Nyong’o and Dockery decided to stay covered up, and did not try to stun audiences with more leg or even more cleavage. Nyong’o wore a simple Ralph Lauren gown at the 2014 Golden Globes that perfectly accented her slim body while surprising guests with a cape-like back to the dress. Dockery wore a Prada dress, detailed with two distinct shades of red, at the 2013 Emmy Awards. Bravo to both!

Miranda Kerr & Amy Adams

On the other hand, a little extra here and there never hurt anyone — I’m looking at you, Kerr. The Victoria’s Secret model, a single lady, last I heard, donned a Zuhair Murad burgundy dress with just the right amount of openings at the 2013 Golden Globes After Party. Kerr showed some leg and flaunted the deep v-neck of the dress, bringing glory to the fashion world. Adams rocked a v-neck, similar to her outfits in “American Hustle,” at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. The Valentino dress was toned burgundy in the bodice and a brighter red at the flared bottom of the dazzling gown.

Andrew Garfield & Lebron James

There really are no words… Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
