For a budgeting college student, a day of shopping can quickly turn into a very complicated math equation — calculating how many takeout coffees and dinners out must be skipped in order to afford each new purchase. But before you start weighing the pros and cons of buying new clothes versus a week’s worth of groceries, check out our handy list of Boston stores offering college discounts.

You’re welcome.

Club Monaco: College students get 20 percent off their entire purchase, including sale items. You probably still won’t be able to afford anything, but it’s the thought that counts, right?

Madewell and J.Crew: Owned by the same company, Madewell and J.Crew both offer 15 percent discounts with a college ID. It applies to sale styles, too, but beware — stacking discounts usually makes it a final sale purchase.

Urban Outfitters: Despite not having a consistent college discount rate, Urban does hold “College Nights,” where sale merchandise is an extra 30 percent off and full-price is 10 percent off, a few times a semester.

ASOS: The online shopping go-to offers a 10 percent discount for students. All you have to do is register your school email address on the site.

Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor LOFT: Ann Taylor offers 20 percent off full-priced styles, and LOFT has a 15 percent discount. Definitely hit these up next time you’re searching for co-op clothes.

Steve Madden: Steve Madden’s Newbury Street storefront gives students with a valid ID a 10 percent discount, a great perk for the shoe obsessed. (And really, who isn’t?)

Banana Republic: Banana Republic has a 15 percent discount for college students with a valid ID. Now if only the other Gap Inc. stores would follow suit…

EMS: Next time you’re scouring the streets for a coat that will keep you warm during Boston winters, check out EMS. The outdoor store offers a 20 percent discount on EMS brand items and a 15 percent discount on other brands.

Vineyard Vines: If you’re looking for preppy staples but aren’t looking to pay preppy prices, hit up Vineyard Vines for its 15 percent college discount.

Clutch: This accessories kiosk in the Prudential Center offers a 10 percent student discount on all purchases of $30 or more.
