Having loved Maxime Simoens’s couture collections, I was excited to see the designer’s first ready-to-wear collection. Shown in Paris on March 3rd, Simoens’s collection was inspired by Swan Lake and opened with a mix of blues, black, and white. Pleated, flowy skirts and peplum were seen throughout the collection, as well as an interesting mix of fabrics. Simoens explored a graphic look similar to that of his previous couture collections, using both a houndstooth pattern and just a single check of that pattern in his looks. Overall the collection was an eclectic mix of shape, structure, color, pattern, and material making for an interesting and impressive first ready-to-wear collection.
