New York Fashion Week: Herve Leger

By Catherine Civgin

On Saturday afternoon, NYFW surged forward despite the blizzard with the sexiest show of the week, Hervé Léger. Inspired by surrealist sculptors Les Lalanne, the collection took a departure from the traditional skin-bearing bondage pieces we’re accustomed to seeing. Re-imagined animal prints in creamy whites, blood reds, and blacks gave the collection a decidedly edgier look than previous fall collections. Intricate beading, sequins, fur, and exposed zippers accented the pieces, which included leather harness tops, midriff-baring long sleeve tops, and a-line dresses with matching leggings. Models also wore felt jockey caps and oversized fur-hooded sweatshirts, which were entirely appropriate considering the recent northeast blizzard. The collection, which is being described as an “urban jungle,” is the perfect collaboration of old and new.
