Maison Martin Margiela created a Spring 2013 Couture Collection that has a lot more than meets the eye. Once you take a look at the larger images, the repurposed beaded 1920’s evening gowns that the anonymous designers combined with trench coats and jackets become much more obvious. The masks that covered the models faces initially threw me off. They didn’t, however, distract from the clothes. Instead, I looked at the actual garment more instead of paying attention to who the model was. Overall the show had many interesting visual elements and the fabrics were beautiful. The last few looks were made from thousands of metallic candy wrappers, which certainly added to the couture element.
