Our E-Board’s Fashion New Year’s Resolutions

Now that New Year’s Eve has come and gone, it’s time to get started on those New Year’s resolutions. While resolutions aren’t always fun (ex. “I’m going to start going to the gym…”), the Haute Fashion executive board decided to take a different approach for 2013. Below are all of our fashion-related New Year’s resolutions for the year. Hopefully, we’ll be able to stick to them and this will be one of our most chic years yet! (If you’re looking for more fashion inspiration for 2013, head on over to our Pinterest page.)

Emily Plourde (President): “My goal this year is to be more daring. Sometimes I put on an outfit in the morning, wear it for a while and then tone it down because others might think I’m crazy. This year I plan to be confident in my clothing choices and really ‘own’ my style!”

Brooke Kamenoff (VP & Marketing Director): “When it comes to getting ready for class, sometimes I can get a little lazy. Towards the end of the semester, I always want to start pulling out the comfier, less cute ensembles (especially for my 8AM classes) but this year I’m going to attempt not to do that. My fashion New Year’s resolution is to put more effort into my outfits.”

Stephanie Zhang (Treasurer & Executive Web Editor): “This year my resolution is to amass a cute co-op wardrobe. My last co-op wardrobe wasn’t very creative because I had to wear a suit every day…”

Sarah Darrow (Secretary): “My new year’s resolution is to purge my closet of all of the clothes that don’t fit, don’t look good, or haven’t been worn in over a year. It will be difficult, but I’ll have to be brutally honest with myself and my wardrobe. I want to make room for clothes that fit my style as it evolves over the years and donate the clothes that don’t.”

Stephanie Eng (Creative Director): “At my towering height of 5’0 I’m no Ana Hickmann, but, as every fashion-conscious petite girl knows, heels can fix everything.  And when I choose heels, I choose HEELS—in fact no pair I own is less than three inches.  They’re flattering, gorgeous, and even relatively comfortable. The only problem? I look like a baby giraffe when I try to walk in them. So, this year I’ve resolved to never shake in my (high heeled) boots again, and to learn how to walk gracefully and confidently in my beloved kicks.”

Jennifer Sun (Treasurer Assistant): “My fashion new year’s resolution is to start creating outfits that are different from what I’m used to. I’ve found myself wearing variations of a plain long sleeved shirt with a scarf, skinny jeans and tall boots more than half the week and want to switch things up! That may be just for the fall and winter but I also follow a “formula” in the spring and summer. I want to branch out this whole year in my outfits.”

Shaila Parashar (Marketing Assistant): “My resolution is to develop a stylish wardrobe for co-op. Being that this is my first job that requires business casual attire, I want to try my best to find a happy medium between what is considered business appropriate, and my own personal style. In addition to this, I want to make sure that I add more color to my wardrobe! Although I love black and white, I need to add more variety in my apparel; hopefully through bold colors and prints I will be able to maintain a work-appropriate, yet stylish wardrobe!”
