Fall Style: Rainy Days

By Abagail Sullivan

With the dog days of summer long gone, the crisp days of fall have come rolling in. It’s easy to find layered styles for typical fall weather, but what’s a girl to do when it’s a wet dog kind of day? Just because it’s gross out doesn’t mean you should have to dress the part. We tend to lose style motivation during these damp days, but with a few quick tips you’ll be singing in the rain.

With wet, sticky weather, it’s best to stay comfortable, but looking put together gives every girl a boost of confidence. The following are three examples of comfy, yet chic outfits for those rainy days.

1. Start with a simple, layered outfit.

Rain boots are a must have for wet days. Throw these on over leggings and add a long sweater (try to stick with cotton and avoid materials like wool and cashmere). A hood or printed headband can be used with this outfit to keep your hair dry in downpours.

2. Go casual.

Use this rainy day as an excuse to wear your comfiest clothes, like yoga pants and a military jacket, adding cute sneakers and a baseball cap for a sporty chic look.

3. Bring out your masculine side.

My favorite go-to rainy day outfit is boyfriend jeans and flip-flops. I throw on loose jeans, a cotton t-shirt or sweater, and flip-flops. Always add a bold scarf to cover your hair on the go and help bring the outfit together.

Bonus tips:

Brighten it up! Wear bright colored nail polish to liven up any day.

Use a serum! For a frizz-free shine through any weather, use an anti-frizz serum to shy away from stray hairs. Try Kérastase Oleo-Relax anti-frizz serum

Invest! Mix it up with a printed umbrella over any outfit. Umbrella: J. Crew
