My Style in 3 Words: Eclectic. Classic. Comfortable.
Background: As a girl who has to wear red lipstick in order to properly study, I think it’s safe to say I’ve got a pretty distinctive perspective on fashion. I believe everyone should wear clothes that fit, both physically and personality-wise. You’ll never catch me in head-to-toe leopard print, but I definitely admire the confidence it takes to be comfortable in that look. Personally, I like to play with cool textures, unexpected pieces, and trends in a way that I am comfortable with.
Day 1: I needed a bit of extra pep to make it through my 8 AM so I channeled my inner Jenn Im. I layered a denim vest over a slouchy black tee to achieve the summery denim vest look. For the bottom I wanted to even out the volume on top and really emphasize my waist so I picked a flouncy red skirt for both a pop of color and a feminine touch. Patterned grey tights and my black and white oxfords tie everything together. (Denim Vest: thrifted Gap, Top: Calvin Klein, Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Tights: Urban Outfitters, Oxfords: Second Time Around)
Day 2: For an interview, I wanted to look a little more professional, but to also keep my youth and optimism to let my personality shine through. I pulled on one of my favourite dresses: a black and white plaid dress with little pops of floral on it that I stole from my mom’s closet ages ago. (Shh, don’t tell!) It used to have shoulder pads and a really strange shape but I made a few adjustments and now it’s an easy, wear-anywhere wrap dress. To fend off the cold I pulled on my trusty opaque tights and long green belted trench coat. As to shoes, I firmly believe that a pair of heels can make any outfit infinitely more dressed-up. The subtle sheen on this pair makes it equally appropriate for an interview and a party, which I love. (Jacket: Old Navy, Dress: vintage, Tights: CVS, Heels: Marshall’s)
Day 3: I like to call this my samurai sweater because the sharp shoulders, and awesome button details on the sides make me feel extra bold. I’m big on making summer pieces work for fall, especially with the limited closet space at college. I layered denim shorts on top of my black tights and slipped my feet into my favorite bow flats. (Sweater: The Garment District, Shorts: Forever 21, Tights: CVS, Shoes: Second Time Around)
