The MTV Video Music Awards are known for their unique “moonman” awards, given to the best of the best music videos released throughout the year. Hollywood’s biggest stars and YouTube’s latest sensations graced the red carpet on September 6th. Style choices ranged from timeless white to edgy patterns. Although many people consider this year’s red carpet disappointing–especially with the simultaneous Fashion’s Night Out–we’ve compiled a list of stars who were still spot on.

Rihanna in Prabal Gurang

Rihanna repeated an elegant Prabal Gurang gown from one of her “Battleship” premieres, but debuted a new short hairdo that looked perfect with the timeless piece.
