Slowly, fashion has become more democratic and it was only a matter of time before television grabbed hold of this trend. Of course, there are many shows out there that have been on for years (case in point: America’s Next Top Model is on cycle 19) but others are relatively new to the fashion game. Take a look below at some of our favorite fashion television shows on the air now and also take a peep at what’s ahead!
America’s Next Top Model (Friday at 8/7c on the CW)
This season of America’s Next Top Model is completely different from all past seasons. Not only is there a new judging panel (Kelly Cutrone, Johnny Wujek, Bryanboy, Rob Evans, and Tyra Banks) but also the fans finally have a voice! Fans can go online and cast their vote for who they think has the best photo and this plays in to who stays and who goes. Another reason Northeastern students might love this cycle is because it is college-themed!
Project Runway (Thursday at 9/8c on Lifetime)
Project Runway is still as strong as ever with Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia at the helm. This season began with 16 new designers vying for the chance to show at New York Fashion Week in Lincoln Center along with a ton of other great prizes. Each episode follows the formula of past seasons with a design challenge followed by a runway show and judging.
House of Style
Starting on October 9th, MTV will be bringing back the popular 90s show, House of Style. This time, however, things will be much different and the show will premiere as a digital edition instead of on the MTV channel. For those who don’t know, House of Style was a show hosted by top models that chronicled the many facets of the fashion industry in the 1990s. The new host is unknown but will be revealed at the VMAs on September 6th.
Once the Football season is over, fashion lovers will have another show to look forward to: Fashion Star. The show will air on NBC on Sundays at 8/7c and season two is sure to be different. For one, the host of season one, Elle Macpherson is out along with retailer H&M. Fashion Star is definitely for anyone interested in design and the business side of how to get things going.
Keep An Eye Out For:
The Face is a new model competition with some talented names already signed on including Naomi Campbell, Nigel Barker (from ANTM fame), Coco Rocha, and Karolina Kurkova.
It’s a Brad, Brad World
Brad Goreski stars in this Bravo series profiling the ins and outs of the fashion styling world. Season two is sure to be interesting as Brad recently became the Exclusive Brand Stylist for Kate Spade.
