Every year, the CFDA Awards are like the Oscars of Fashion: anybody who’s anybody will be there, looking their best and hoping to win. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the fashion council, and was no exception with big fashion and film names like Tommy Hilfiger and Zoe Saldana in attendance at the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall on June 4th. Designers stood alongside their creations on the red carpet as nominees and award recipients arrived, proving their talent one last time before the ceremony began.

While not every look this year was something worth talking about, there were quite a few gems to take note of. Here are our top picks from the night!

Anna Wintour in Marc Jacobs

The ‘Queen of Fashion’ turned out this year in a warm, classic-cut Marc Jacobs dress.

Joan Smalls in Michael Kors

Her eggshell white high-low dress by Michael Kors is definitely one to remember, and to look out for copies of in the future.

Seth Meyers in Band of Outsiders

As if we needed another reason to love Mr. Meyers, this year he came ready to host the evening in a dashing Band of Outsiders suit.

Karen Elson in Proenza Schouler

Two-piece dress looks were a fun new trend that made a real debut at the awards this year, with Karen setting the standard in an emerald green one by Proenza Schouler.

Jen Kao and Harley Viera Newton in Jen Kao

Both in Jen Kao, their dynamic looks put Jen’s designs back on the trend radar with her cut-out bustier and patterned skirt combo, and Harley’s elegant-but-fun short white dress.

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in The Row

Winners of the coveted 2012 Womenswear Designers of the Year award, the twins both wore looks from The Row’s resort 2013 collection.

Kate Bosworth in Altuzarra

The actress arrived dressed by a former CFDA award winner Altuzarra with pumps by Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra from their fall 2012 collection.

Dree Hemingway in Creatures of the Wind

CFDA nominated designers Creatures of the Wind also made an appearance on the red carpet as Dree’s cool cropped jacket and patterned dress combo.

Dakota Fanning in Proenza Schouler

Dakota donned a kimono-inspired Proenza Schouler dress from their fall 2012 collection at the ceremony, proving age has nothing to do with style.

Candice Swanepoel Valentino

This Victora’s Secret Angel paired her light blue Valentino dress with a simple milkmaid braid and gently-curled hairstyle that people everywhere can’t stop talking about.

Kyra Sedgwick in Reed Krakoff

Kyra Sedgwick, among others, convinced holdouts this year that a good pant suit really can work on the red carpet in Reed Krakoff, Accessory Designer of the Year.

Shu Pei in Vera Wang

The model made sure she would be remembered by wearing a rich saffron, jacquard silk Vera Wang dress.
