Recap: Dress For The Job You Want

By Sarah Darrow

Last Thursday, CollegeFashionista and Ann Taylor teamed up for the “Dress For The Job You Want” event to give college students tips and ideas on how to dress appropriately for a job or internship. The event was hosted by the founder of CollegeFashionista, Amy Levin, and Ann Taylor’s PR Director, Andrew Taylor. Boston Style Gurus wore Ann Taylor outfits styled by Levin, and walked around the store welcoming and talking to guests.

Throughout the event, there was a styling competition where attendees had the opportunity to dress one of two Style Gurus in pieces from the store for the chance to win a $100 gift card to Ann Taylor. At the end of the event, the Ann Taylor College Ambassadors from Boston University and Northeastern University spoke about their jobs and conducted a raffle for Ann Taylor jewelry. Levin talked about the outfits she styled, and Taylor concluded by discussing the theme of the event and answering questions.

“It was exciting to see the large turnout from college students and their excitement to learn about how to dress for the job you want. Andrew Taylor was extremely inspirational and I think resonated very well with attendees,” Levin said.

With interviews and co-ops here at Northeastern, having clothes that suit your personality while remaining professional is key. From what I saw, Ann Taylor had a great mix of bright hues for spring, which could easily be combined with the more professional skirt or pant. Adding your own accessories and personal touches to these types of pieces would also be perfect for your summer job or internship!
