Fashion Picks: Who to Follow on Twitter

If you don’t have a Twitter account in 2012, you should sign up now! This popular form of social media provides quick updates from people all around the world. The fashion industry has perfected the Twitter formula by giving their followers a backstage pass to the latest trends, runway shows and fashion news–all in 140 characters or less.

DKNY PR GIRL®1. DKNY PR Girl – @dkny

Aliza Licht, the SVP of global communications for Donna Karan International, is the hilariously blunt face behind the popular “DKNY PR Girl”! Her tweets give you an insight of the life of a hardcore PR girl. Look out for her live commentary during “Gossip Girl” Mondays at 8 PM!


The Cut2. The Cut Blog – @cutblog

Look to New York Magazine’s “The Cut” blog, one of the biggest online sources for fashion, for all the inside scoop of the industry. From profiles on the hottest fashion bloggers to play-by-play breaking news during fashion week, The Cut has got it covered!

Fashionista.com3. Fashionista – @fashionista_com

If you want to know who the next big thing in fashion is, follow Fashionista for their extensive daily coverage on the hottest models, fashion shows, designers and more!

College Fashionista4. College Fashionista – @CFashionista

College Fashionista is a great source for college students interested in fashion! They highlight the fashion scene and streetstyle of campuses all across America. Check out Northeastern’s page for the latest trends on our campus!

alexa chung5. Alexa Chung – alexa_chung

This TV personality brings her out her entertaining British wit in her tweets. Now living in New York City, Chung documents her ever-fabulous life through her twitter account. It is a fun read!

If you prefer your twitter feed to be filled with tweets from industry professionals, then definitely follow! The website (which I refer to as my “online fashion bible”) is known for its exclusive coverage of elitist parties and galas and endless international runway updates, which is all reflected in their tweets!

Cathy Horyn7. Cathy Horyn – @CathyHorynNYT

Cathy Horyn is the editor of The New York Times’ “On The Runway” blog, Her un-stuffy professional and fresh outlook of fashion’s happenings are well-respected, so take note!

Rachel Strugatz8. Rachel Strugatz – @rachelstrugatz

Rachel Strugatz, the accessories and social media news editor for Womenswear Daily (another fashion bible) tweets from an insider’s perspective. I enjoy her honest and funny tweets about her career and the fashion industry!

Her Campus9. Her Campus – @hercampus

Her Campus is a great source for college girls. It answers all our questions from “How do I try out this color-blocking trend?” to “Is is worth it to stay in this relationship?” Also follow @HerCampusNU for Northeastern-related stories!
