Ricardo Tisci’s spring haute couture collection, which debuted on January 24 – revealed the changes within the designer’s mindset. Mixing fabrics like crocodile skin, tulles and sequins, the collection was heavy, luxurious and slightly masculine.
The designer took inspirations from movies like 1927’s “Metropolis” and 1924’s “Aelita: Queen of Mars”, which shone through the gaudy earrings and immensely detailed nose rings.
Past collections from both menswear and womenswear could be seen in this collection, yet they were brought to life through Tisci’s newfound mature approach to his design aesthetic.
With this collection, Tisci has finally secured the identity he has always wanted for Givenchy.
