New York Fashion Week: Oscar de la Renta
By Henry Peers & Daisy Kendrick
Oscar de la Renta has been New York’s most surprising collection. This season, de la Renta ditched catering for the upper tiers of political wives, first ladies, and Hollywood types. His collection presented diversity: for minimalists he showed slick suits; for maximalists, color popping pinks; for evening, short party dresses rimmed with lace, pompoms, and sequins–a stunning staple to many of the looks.
The models showcased messy beehives that were purely pretty and grand, adding a flare of punk rock with wisps of neon hair. He added to the surprise by experimenting with red latex tops and skirts. For die-hard fans of old school glamour, fear not: de la Renta showcased an array of stunning gowns and a mix of chiffon and delicate embroidery for a fresh sophistication. With this collection de la Renta proved that edgy is classy. And like us, we are sure the fashion pack will be dying to get hold of it.
